Criticism: The Foundations of Modern Literary Judgment

New York: Harcourt Brace, (1948). Clorth, very good in dust jacket. With a full-page inscription to Ira and Lee Gershwin, signed "Richard". The writer apologizes for "becoming unpleasantly heated and loud on the subject of 'criticism'" and goes on with criticism of critics. We think this might be the writer Richard Sherman whose 1947 book "The Bright Promise" (q.v.) was published to much hype but unflattering reviews, but the handwriting comparison is inconclusive.
