Charlotte’s Web. Spadea Syndicate materials sent to the Chicago Tribune for syndication
1959. The Spadea Syndicate offered a serialization of "Charlotte's Web" to its newspaper subscribers in 1959. This is the set of materials sent to and used by the Chicago Tribune: Five large sheets with the paste-ups of the art work and titles, 26 large sheets of the pasted up text and illustrations for each of the 22 chapters. The sheets are all marked with notes and ruled lines for photo-reproduction and layout. The sheets are worn and creased, and one paragraph of the text has fallen off and is missing. With the original rubber mats and page proofs used by the newspaper for printing the story (one of the mats, chapter 21, is missing). There is some water damage to a few pieces in the last two chapters. Item #29309
